FIN

FINoslo1

Based in Oslo, Norway, and striking a balance between edgy and classic, the FIN collection incorporates graphic knitwear in casually wearable styles, punctuating a classic collection of sportswear, with fine jersey tops, pleated dress shorts and luxurious jersey wrap dresses.  Head designer Per Age Sivertsen gives a nod of respect to the past with a classic, elegant sportswear collection, spanning casual elegance to edgy sophistication.  Employing organic fabrics, including wild hand spun silk for texture, bamboo jersey for drape, organic Pima cotton for crisp sophistication and organic baby alpaca for rarity and luxury, FIN explores new designs, and environmentally and socially responsible ideas of fashion production, through the creation of the collection.

“On our path, towards unique results, every step is of equally importance. We carefully select our materials, to achieve the finest expression.” To recognize the hard labor that has gone into the production of the fabric as well as the clothes, FIN uses only Fair-Trade certified cotton, which contributes to a healthy environment as well as better working conditions for cotton producers.  The spinning, dyeing and finishing of FIN’s yarns are also carried out according to ecological standards.  Organic, certified baby alpaca, one of the rarest and most luxurious fibers available, which is incredibly soft, warm, and silky to the touch, is incorporated into the collection in the form of sumptuous knits.  The Alpaca graze and roam freely on pesticide free land, with the fleece from the baby alpaca, the most exclusive and beautiful.  Wild silk is grown naturally, and is handpicked and hand spun by artisans, creating rich, textural fabrications.  While conventional silk production requires the killing of the silk moth at the pupae stage, the production of non-violent silk allows the pupae to mature into a free silk moth.

“When the idea of FIN was conceived we set out on a path that has led us to so many different corners of the world and now involves a lot of people.” FIN requires all who work with them to be concerned about wages, working hours, human rights and social accountability, with all their suppliers complying to their code of conduct.  They believe in taking responsibility for their actions, so in an effort to take responsibility for theirs, FIN invests in climate credits, based on the CO2 emissions calculated on the production and shipping of their garments, and designed to reach the goal of carbon neutrality.  The funds are then reinvested into renewable energy production in the countries where they produce.

“The social conditions behind our brand have been our focus since FIN’s inception.” Introducing an accessories collection in fall 2008, FIN now also produce a range of hand embroidered wild silk shawls and alpaca scarves to compliment the ready-to-wear collection.  Showing and selling the collection in Berlin, Copenhagen, Oslo, Paris and New York, FIN has garnered the support of fashion fans Keira Knightley and Kate Bosworth.
