Dsenyo

Dsenyo is a social enterprise working directly with artisan communities in Malawi, Zambia, and Brazil, to enable women to become economically empowered through the sale of ethical fashion and fair trade gifts. Dsenyo connects artisans to the global marketplace. Through sharing personal, authentic stories of social impact, they hope to build a global tribe of artisans, entrepreneurs, and individuals who care about sustainability and style. Committed to fair trade principles and providing artisans with the resources to build a better world, Dsenyo believe business can be a powerful source for social and economic change. Artist Marissa Perry Saints founded the company to create opportunities for talented artisans living in marginalized communities.

Dsenyo is one of the many fair trade companies affiliated with the Fair Trade Federation, an organization that aspires to address social and economic problems through business. Federation members strictly adhere to Fair Trade principles, provide fair wages, help sustain the environment, and empower the communities they work with. With over 100 artisans across three countries who inspire further change in their communities, Dsenyo works to have a positive impact on people and planet. They use farbrications that have minimal impact on the environment, including jute, buriti palm, and repurposed materials, while sourcing locally wherever possible. The collection covers a range of items, focusing on handbags and purses, but also including clothing, accessories, jewelry and items for the home.
