Grandt Mason Originals is a South African brand, born from a profound passion for crafting sustainable footwear through a handmade process. Likely South Africa’s first eco-footwear brand, Grandt Mason produce high-quality, bespoke shoes, with comfort at the heart of everything they do. This entirely vegan brand use absolutely no animal products in the production of their shoes. Sustainability is at the heart of the brand, using up-cycled upholstery textiles sourced from local distributors. Each pair of Grandt Mason Originalsis unique, and supports the sustainable development and job creation in South Africa.
With a passion for handmade craft, every shoe is produced organically and with love. All shoes are machine washable with double padded insoles, nonslip treads, and no stiffeners to allow for flat packing. Shoes are produced form outdated textile swatch books and end of roll off cuts, recycled from South Africa’s leading upholstery distributors. Grandt Mason also offers a made-to-order, bespoke service at their atelier in Cape Town, where customers can select the materials and watch the shoes come to life in front of them.
With a focus on comfort, designs feature arch support and toe guards, as well as adjustments on the width and length of the shoe. Off centered cuts cover the big toe bone, offering a comfortable design, based around the classic styling of the ballet pump and the traditional boating shoe.
