MapleXO

Lindsay Jo Holmes, is the one man band behind MapleXO, a small company that recycles skateboards into jewelry and accessories.  Collecting the skateboards herself, she bribes local resellers with home made cupcakes. Based in Portland, Oregon, she peels of the grip tape, drills, cuts, shapes and sands the unwanted boards into refined items to wear instead of ride.  A skateboarder herself, she thinks of her work as her way of giving back to the skateboarding community, as well as reducing the environment impact of skating.  Through the process, she has discovered the amazing beauty and qualities inside of each skateboard.  Starting by making simple hoop earrings from the layered wood, Holmes has since expanded her repertoire to rings, bangles, various designs of earrings and even mirrors.
