Hosewear

Hosewear1SmallerEstonian brand Hosewear, create a line of cool, urban messenger bags and tech gear protectors from rugged, retired firehoses. Breathing new life into these tough, hard-wearing materials, used to transfer millions of gallons of water at hundreds of pounds of pressure, they extend their life by remaking them into waterproof bags, totes and cases. Even after decommission, the average firehose is still capable of carrying up to 20 bars of pressure. Due to the vital nature of their work however, the hoses are usually destroyed once their term of service is complete. The hard-wearing nature of these materials caused Ivar Arulaid, the founder of Hosewear to find a means of continuing their life by reimagining them as bags and iPad covers.

Hosewear4The moderately priced collection includes totes, messenger bags, wallets, shoppers, iPhone and iPad covers, all completely waterproof, some sporting their identifying digits and others the result of wear and tear from their first job as a firehose.
