Henrietta Rose Samuels, custom makes bespoke women’s shoes from recycled and reworked vintage materials, under the name Hetty Rose. Primarily working with “relics of a disappearing world, saturated in significance and hidden meaning” The collection is epitomizes the revaluing and re-contextualizing of otherwise wasted materials. The designer hand selects exquisite antique materials to use for her shoe uppers to create unique handmade footwear. Her simple provocative designs are flattering and full of character.
The collection encompasses a broad range of styles from her classic peep toe ribbon tie back to pointed toe kitten heeled styles and retro Mary Jane’s, as well as flats and an absolutely adorable range of soft kiddies slippers. All Hetty Rose shoes are made to order, and take between five to eight weeks to cut, stitch and make from the material of your choice.
Graduating from the London College of Fashions prestigious Cordwainers degree, Samual’s worked for a range of bespoke companies in the UK and Italy prior to setting up her own label in 2007. Samuals’ also hosts shoe parties and organizes shoe making workshops, where a complete novice can make their own custom, vintage kimono sling backs in a day. Participants get to choose their own fabric, shoe liner, heel height and ribbon trim, leaving at the end of the day with their own hand made custom shoes, and serious bragging rights!
