The BEA Project

TheBeaProject1

The Bea Project, is a fine art and fashion mixed media art house, and the brainchild of Katrina Bea. The abandon found in the midst of chaos fuels her Love and Anarchy collection of hand sewn, dyed, painted, reclaimed and reworked vintage fabric and garments. By bringing chaos to controlled environments and idealizing the grotesque, Bea deconstructs fashion. More a body of work, and the visual journey of the development and experimentation with processes, than a collection in the mainstream fashion sense of the word. An artist whose talent extends beyond a single medium, Bea works with oil and mixed media on paper, as well as on textiles and in fashion.

TheBeaProject

The collection runs the gamut from girly, vintage, sweet with naive sexual undertones, to a full on deconstructed and destructed apocalyptic punk, hard rock grunge mélange of expression. Fabrics and garments are rich with detail and texture, but always urbane. Bea appears to be the archetypal artist creative, adept at expression through multiple mediums, seeing no boundaries to the fusion of each, funneled into fashion and fine art. The collection incorporates a total of 33 hand made painted and dyed outfits, with an additional 100 screen printed dresses and T shirt and a plethora of handmade necklaces, and utility belts, making for a total post apocalyptic look! The body of work is the culmination of over 7 months of intensive work, with some textiles dyed, re-dyed and bleached as many as 3 times to achieve the final effect, along with painting, burning and sun bleaching. Textiles come from stripped vintage and current clothing as well as bolts of vintage textile scraps.
