Botanica Workshop are a lifestyle brand focusing on underwear and loungewear made from organic and sustainable materials. The independent design studio established in 2014, was born from a need for responsibly produced intimate apparel with a quality designer aesthetic. The design studio strives to choose the most eco-friendly options possible, minimizing waste, they utilize recycled and second-hand supplies, and all garment samples are drafted, cut, and sewn by hand. Partnering with local artisans and technicians Botanica Workshop create small production runs of well-crafted pieces a few times a year in Los Angeles, California.
The brands understated aesthetic is practical and playful with simple clean, functional lines. Fabrications include certified organic cotton, which is knitted domestically, silk produced in a local silk mill that supplies high-end fashion houses, and natural, high-quality synthetic trims, most of which are botanically or mineral dyed. Mindful local sourcing, sustainable manufacturing, and eco-friendly operation policies are central to the brands ethos. Favoring domestic manufacturing wherever possible as a vehicle with the potential to foster innovative production for small-scale businesses.
The name Botanica Workshop comes from a combination of concepts: “Botanica” representing the ecologically minded use of materials, and “Workshop” representing the experiential nature of designing and producing handcrafted goods. In just two seasons, the brand have gained a diverse following of incredible women, including industry tastemakers, celebrities, and key influencers. The brand is ever evolving and ever mindful of their “slow fashion” sustainable design practice.
