Creative by nature but destructive by nurture, Melissa Kirgan strives to create works that reflects the balance of opposites. Organic lines supported by a firm structure, freehand draping techniques, coupled with strict pattern making. In this she finds beauty and a certain silent peacefulness. Kirgan received great pleasure from working with organic, fair-made materials to create her pieces, and believes strongly that clothes are tools to express our individuality. What better positive expressions than to give back to the environment through what we wear. These are more than just clothes. They are a way of life.
