Organic Basics

Organic Basics make just that, men’s basic underwear, socks and T’s, made almost entirely from organic materials. The brand started with a mission to rethink underwear, and create a product appreciated for the product itself and not the icon wearing it, or the designer brand name plastered all over it. They focused on the three key areas of production, product and purchase, where they felt they could make the greatest impact. First working with organic cotton, well, just because of the intimacy of the end product, and the purity of the materials, not to mention the lesser environmental impact of fiber production. Certified organic cotton is produced under fair labor conditions, a process that extends to the manufacture of the undies themselves. Finally purchase is designed to be convenient, with a purchase as simple as a keystroke and done online.

Conceived of by a few ordinary guys, the brand doesn’t subscribe to big brand logos woven into the waistband elastic of every pair of undies, but instead stands on quality, discretion and transparency. Organic Basics also eschew the use of underwear models, yes, even the guys are subject to unrealistic expectations when it comes to underwear models.

Fabrics are sourced locally to minimize the carbon footprint, and all suppliers are certified. Socks and undies alike are made from 80% to 95% organic cotton. There are no scratchy labels, stress points are reinforced, and all seams are double overlocked. Even the shipping bag is made form 100% recycled content and fully recyclable. The brand adheres to the Global Organic Textile Standard, and is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, as well as Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certified, an independent NGO of global social compliance experts who promote safe, lawful humane and ethical manufacturing.
