Salvatore Ferragamo

Legendary designer Salvatore Ferragamo created one of the world’s most renowned fashion corporations. Born at the end of 19th-century in Naples, Italy, Ferragamo produced his first pair of shoes at age 9, for his sisters confirmation.  After honing his craft, Ferragamo moved to the US, working with his brother for a cowboy boot manufacturer.  Moving to California, several years later, Ferragamo set up shop in Hollywood, creating handmade shoes for aristocrats and Hollywood film set. Designing shoes for the movies as well as their stars, Ferragamo designed the ruby slippers for Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.  Returning to Italy to build his own brand, Ferragamo is today known the world over for producing women’s shoes, accessories, perfumes, and other luxury items. For the first time in 2010, Ferragamo produced a capsule collection of ‘eco’ bags, made from vegetable dyed leather, organic linings and interior and replacing all nickel buckles with leather.
