The Skunkfunk womenswear brands focus is respect for the environment and to the people that make their clothing.
Women’s clothing brand Tabii Just, produces a chic clothing line designed to encourage conscious consumption. With an aesthetic that combines an easy-going Trinidadian vibe with a Brooklyn edge, the collection features easy to wear, effortless clothing. Bright colorful prints and patterns combine graphic, digital and organic imagery seamlessly. Easy T shaped dresses and tops disguise unique draping and tucking, designed to eliminate waste.
The collection is designed and manufactured in New York, and Tabii Just take great pride in supporting local businesses and employing local labor, not simply ensuring the supply chain is sweatshop free. Personal oversight of quality control is of course much easier, when your factory is only a train ride away, one of the benefits of producing locally.
Tabii Just incorporates zero fabric waste into the designing of their clothing. With 15% of fabric for apparel production often discarded, Tabii Just create patterns from scratch that result in minimal textiles waste, and they utilize what left overs there are, to produce other small items such as pocket squares.
Tabitha Bernard co-founded Tabii Just in 2012, after graduating form New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. While working at Tahari ASL, Bernard discovered her passion for sustainable fashion. Tabii Just has been worn by a number of TV personalities from Danielle Brooks of Orange is the New Black, to Grammy nominated singer Wayna Stephens. She is also renowned as a fashion and beauty blogger for a variety of websites.
